Blowers & Centrifugal Fans

Blowers and centrifugal fans are types of air-moving devices used to move air through duct systems, ventilation systems and more. Blowers are typically more efficient than centrifugal fans, as they have a positive displacement impeller that moves air at a constant volume all the time, regardless of pressure and resistance. Centrifugal fans, on the other hand, have an impeller that accelerates air, creating a pressure increase, but they are more efficient at higher pressures. The impeller of a centrifugal fan has blades that force air outward from the center to create a pressure increase. Centrifugal fans are often used for applications in which high airflow is necessary, such as gas turbines, combustion turbines, and power plants. Blowers are commonly used in high-pressure systems, such as for vacuum cleaning and dust collection, however, they can also be used in lower-pressure applications, such as for cooling systems.
