MEMS Microphones

MEMS microphones are miniaturized acoustic transducers made from micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. The MEMS microphone consists of a tiny mechanical membrane, a backplate, and a built-in ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) for signal processing, which translates sound into electrical signals that can be processed for reproduction, recording, or control purposes. The tiny structure of the MEMS microphone provides a variety of advantages such as excellent sound quality, high robustness, high sensitivity, and low design cost. In addition, MEMS microphones can be integrated into consumer electronics devices and can be used in applications such as recordings, teleconferencing, hearing aids, and even speech-to-text applications.
