Galvanically Isolated Gate Drivers

Galvanically Isolated Gate Drivers are electronic components used to interface the control signal from a low voltage microcontroller to a high voltage power device, such as MOSFETs or IGBTs. They provide electrical isolation between the two sides, preventing any direct electrical connection between the low voltage control circuit and the high voltage power circuit.This isolation is achieved through the use of optocouplers, transformers, or capacitive coupling. The gate driver will receive the low voltage control signal and convert it to a higher voltage signal that is suitable for driving the power device. This ensures that the control circuit is protected from any high voltage spikes or surges that may occur in the power circuit.Galvanic isolation also helps to eliminate any potential ground loops, which can cause interference or damage to the electronics. This allows for safer and more reliable operation of the power device.
