EPROM

EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) is memory chip used for storing computer programs and data, but with the ability to be erased and reprogrammed for later use. It is non-volatile, meaning it doesn't lose its contents when the power is turned off. Not all computers have EPROM chips, as flash memory and other types of memory have become more prevalent. EPROM chips are typically used in embedded systems, such as those found in medical devices, calculators, and vehicles. The key feature of an EPROM is that it can be erased and reprogrammed. This makes it particularly useful for equipment that requires frequent updating, as the chips can easily be reprocessed or changed to include new instructions or data.
