Discrete Semiconductors

Discrete semiconductors are individual electrical components that contain a single semiconductor material as the active medium, operating on basic principles of electronics. They are also known as discrete semiconductor devices and can be implemented in a variety of commercial and industrial applications. Their use is growing in automation, but the most common use is within consumer electronics and digital signal processing. Some of the most common types of discrete semiconductors include transistors, diodes, and integrated circuits. Operating principles may vary from one device to another, but all devices have one thing in common—they must be electrically compatible with the electronic circuit they will be used in.
