Wirewound Resistors - SMD

Wirewound resistors - SMD (Surface-Mounted Devices) are resistors that are composed of a winding of wire and are typically used in electronic circuits. These resistors are often used for power applications because of their ability to dissipate large amounts of power without failing, and are part of the so-called "thick film" components. The wattage rating of wire-wound SMD resistors can range from 0.2 W to over 100 W. They are available in four basic configurations: axial lead, surface mount, radial lead, and TABS (Through-Air-Burn-Sequence). Wirewound resistors are also known for their ability to withstand high surge currents. They have a low inductance and are available in a wide range of values, allowing for flexibility in circuit designs.
