EMI Filters / EMI Suppression

EMI Filters, or Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Filters, are devices designed to filter out high-frequency interference in order to reduce Electromagnetic interference (EMI). This type of filter is made up of components that reduce EMI or noise at a given frequency range. Common components of an EMI filter include capacitors, inductors, and ferrites. These components work together to form an LC circuit which will dampen the high frequency signals that cause the EMI. However, the effectiveness of an EMI Filter will depend on the implementation and design of the filter, as well as the type and strength of interference that is present. It is important to note that EMI Filters can only provide limited attenuation, meaning that the amount of interference or noise that is reduced will not always be sufficient for a given application. Careful design and implementation is required in order to ensure that the EMI Filter is sufficiently shielding the system from EMI sources.
