Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors MLCC - Leaded

A multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) is a type of capacitor constructed using discrete layers of ceramic material and electrodes, connected by alternating layers of metal electrodes. MLCCs are one of the most widely used components for a variety of purposes because of their small size, high capacitance, and excellent temperature stability. MLCCs come in a variety of shapes, sizes, capacitance values, and lead types. MLCCs are available either as surface-mount (SMD) or through-hole (TH) components, depending on the specific application. SMD devices are attractive for high density applications and have become the de facto standard for modern designs. Through-hole devices are suitable for heavier loads and are generally used in industrial applications and military specifications. MLCCs are also available with different lead types, including axial (radial) leads, gull wing (surface mount), tabbed, and others, depending on the application. In general, MLCCs with axial leads are the highest performing, but are the least common due to their size and cost. Gull wing leads are the most common type due to their small size and lower cost.
