Lamps are a type of electronic component that convert electrical energy into light. They consist of a glass or plastic enclosure, a filament, and a base with electrical connections. Lamps can come in various shapes and sizes, such as incandescent, fluorescent, and LED.Incandescent lamps produce light by heating up a filament to a high temperature, causing it to emit visible light. However, they tend to be less energy-efficient and have a shorter lifespan compared to other types of lamps.Fluorescent lamps use a gas discharge process to produce light. Inside the tube, an electric current flows through mercury vapor, producing ultraviolet light that is then converted into visible light by the fluorescent coating on the tube.LED lamps use a semiconductor material to produce light when an electric current passes through it. They are highly energy-efficient and have a longer lifespan compared to incandescent and fluorescent lamps.Overall, lamps are essential components in lighting systems and have evolved over time with advancements in technology, providing a wide range of energy-efficient options for various purposes.
