Speakers & Transducers

Speakers and transducers are electronic devices that convert energy from one form to another. Speakers use a diaphragm to move air and thus create sound waves, while transducers convert electrical energy into sound or vibration. Both components are important for reproducing audio from electronic devices. Speakers are typically connected to an amplifier, which drives the diaphragm to create the desired sound. Transducers can be used for various purposes, such as recording sound, converting sound into another form, or amplifying signals. Transducers used in audio equipment are usually piezoelectric, electrostatic, or dynamic. Piezoelectric transducers produce sound by vibrating a material with a piezoelectric element under an applied voltage. Electrostatic transducers use two metal plates between which an electric field is created to move a membrane and thus produce sound. Dynamic transducers are most commonly found in loudspeakers and microphones, and use a magnet and a diaphragm to convert electrical energy into sound.
