A microphone is a device used to capture sound and convert it into an electrical signal. Microphones come in various shapes and sizes, from small headset mics to large studio mics. All microphones are based on the same principle: sound waves enter an acoustic chamber, which vibrates a diaphragm connected to an electrical coil. That electrical signal is then amplified and digitized for storage or transmission. Microphones work by capturing sound waves and turning them into an electrical signal. There are two main types of microphones: dynamic and condenser. Dynamic microphones are usually used in live sound applications, such as vocals and drums, because they can handle louder sound levels without distortion. Condenser microphones are used in recording studios because they are more sensitive and reproduce sound with greater dynamic range.
