HDMI, Displayport & DVI Connectors

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a digital connection type that allows for high-quality audio and video signals to be sent from a source device like a Blu-Ray player, cable box, or computer to a HDTV or AV receiver. It can also be used by PC monitors and projectors. HDMI is the most popular connector type for connecting AV components today, and is usually the primary connection type for newer TVs, monitors, receivers, and other AV products. DisplayPort is another digital connection type that is becoming popular for computer monitors and projectors, as well as a few AV receivers. It is a friendly connection type with a high-bandwidth throughput, meaning it can handle the highest resolutions and refresh rates. DisplayPort can be a good choice if you’re connecting high-end audio and video components. DVI (Digital Visual Interface) is a digital connection type that is primarily used for connecting computer monitors and projectors. It is a high-quality connection type, however it is not compatible with many AV receivers or TVs. It’s an older connection type, and many newer devices are not compatible with it. It isn’t as popular as HDMI or DisplayPort for connecting AV components, but can still be found on some older devices.
