Inrush Current Limiters

Inrush current limiters are used to limit the amount of current that can flow into a device, such as a transformer, during the initial power up. Inrush current can be very high, in some cases orders of magnitude higher than the normal operating current of the device. Limiters are typically used to protect components such as power supplies and transformers, which can be damaged when a large inrush current is present. They work by slowly allowing current to flow into a device over a period of time, limiting the peak current that can be drawn. This helps to ensure reliable operation and long life of the transformer or power supply.
