Circuit Breakers

A circuit breaker is a device designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage from overheating, overloading, or short circuiting. It acts like an invisible switch that automatically opens up or turns off the flow of electricity when the circuit is overloaded or the load has reached a certain level. This prevents electrical components in the circuit from being damaged or even bursting into flames. Circuit breakers are typically used in circuit protection applications and are found in most households and all businesses. Circuit breakers come in different sizes, ratings and types depending on the application. They can be manually reset or may also be self resetting, meaning that when the fault has been cleared, the circuit breaker will automatically reset itself and resume normal operation. Circuit breakers have become a standard part of electrical wiring, and are used in industrial, commercial and residential settings.
